Corporate Identity
Approach
Explain your understanding of the design
brief and how you formulated your ideas; note your research, the methods you
used, thumbnails etc.
When I read the corporate ID brief I
clearly understood that I had to research a range of corporate logos and then
pay attention to the themes that each of the corporate logos followed
throughout their company. I then made a mood board of all of the logos that I
collected and then uploaded them to my corporate ID blog. I then had to create
an imaginary business and give it a name. I chose a cycling business and called
it CHC cycles. For the business I had to give it an imaginary address, phone
number, email, website and Facebook etc. I then had to create a number of logos
for my company and then develop them further to have one final logo to create
on adobe illustrator. To do this I sketched all my ideas down onto my
sketchbook and then started to develop then by doing thumbnails. I then started
to pick out the ones hat I liked and then develop then using colour and black
bold pen. I then had to create my final logo on illustrator. For this I then
started to use the pen tool to get the shape of my logo and then I started to
border my logo with a thick cyan line to help my logo stand out. Once I had
created my logo I then moved onto doing my business cards, letterheads,
envelope and compliments slip. For this I researched the sizes that each
stationary product and researched different styles and layouts that different
company had for there stationary to help me generate ideas for my letterheads
etc… Once I had completed my letterheads etc I started to upload my finished
designs to my corporate id blog.
Final Artwork
How did you create your final artwork?
What materials and software did you use? Note the tools used and how they were
used; Pen Tool, Brush Tool, etc.
For my final artwork I used the adobe
illustrator program to create it. Firstly I used the pen tool to create the
general shape of my logo. I then used the pen tool again to create a thick blue
border around my logo to help make it stand out and become more appealing. I
then had to find a suitable font to use on my logo. So I went on the dafont website
and browsed through the tecno fonts genre until I found the right font that
suited my logo. Once I had found the right font (basica 2,0) I then used the
text tool to enter it under my logo a used the arch tool to make the text bend
around my logo.
